Foothills Commercial Builders Shores Up 1926 Building in North Cherry Creek
Foothills Commercial Builders, Inc (FCBI) was selected to stabilize a historical 1926 wooden building on 6th Avenue and Josephine Streets. The free-standing, 5,256 square foot retail storefront located at 2306 E. 6th Avenue in Denver, needed a structural upgrade as well as asbestos abatement and lead paint removal.
FCBI was also responsible for demolition of the entire ceiling in the building as well as some of the interior walls. Floor strengthening was done by excavating, forming and pouring 33 feet of strip footing and adding 3x3 spread footing to disperse the weight of the structure over more area for greater stability. Sistering was used for floor joists to provide structural support for a new wood floor.
“Revitalizing an older building is a way to preserve some of the history of the area,” said Rocky Hollingsworth, President and CEO of Foothills Commercial Builders. “This building has a lot of character in a great location.”
