Foothills Commercial Builders’ Charity Golf Tournament Attracts Local Celebrities
Foothills Commercial Builders will hold its annual charity golf tournament at the Inverness Golf Club, August 2, 2012 with Mark McIntosh, Nate Marquardt, and Karl Mecklenburg among the players. Proceeds will go to Judi's House, a non-profit organization located in Denver, CO.
Denver, CO (OPENPRESS) July 2, 2012 – Foothills Commercial Builders will hold its annual charity golf tournament at the Inverness Golf Club, in Englewood on Thursday, August 2, with Mark McIntosh, Nate Marquardt, and Karl Mecklenburg among the players. “We decided to approach celebrities this year,” said William Hollingsworth, President of Foothills. “Hopefully the chance to play in a foursome with one of these guys will encourage a large turnout, and we will be able to give Judi’s House a substantial donation.” Mark McIntosh, long time sports announcer in the Denver area, and host of Drivetime with Mac and Doog, will be master of ceremonies for the tournament. Nate “The Great” Marquardt, Pro MMA fighter, will sign autographs after the tournament. Karl Mecklenburg, former Denver Bronco’s Linebacker, will be available to sign autographs as well.
The 7:30 a.m. shotgun start marks the 6th year that Foothills has sponsored the tournament, raising more than $55,000 for various children’s charities in Denver and the surrounding area. This year all funds will go to Judi’s House, a non-profit organization founded by former NFL quarterback, and well known Denverite, Brian Griese in memory of his mother who died when he was twelve years old.
The vision of Judi's House is a community in which no child has to feel alone in grief. Our mission is to help children and families who are grieving the death of a loved one find hope and healing within themselves. At Judi's House, an environment of acceptance and understanding allows children and adults in peer support groups to share the experience of loss with others. Judi’s House increases awareness and knowledge of grieving children’s needs by extending grief support services to schools, faith-based groups, hospices, and other caregivers in the community.
